13-year-old boy dies in fire at Tarkwa Makro

A 13-year-old boy has died following a fire outbreak that destroyed a nine-bedroom house at Tarkwa Makro in Kumasi on Monday night.

The fire, which began in the late hours, consumed several properties in the building, according to eyewitness accounts.

Residents made frantic efforts to rescue the boy, identified as Hassan, but were unable to save him.

A survivor of the incident, Prince, who is physically challenged, recounted how the boy called out for help as the fire intensified.

He explained that Hassan was trapped behind a locked door and could not escape despite his pleas for assistance.

Prince further disclosed that only four persons were in the house at the time of the fire.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service subsequently arrived at the scene to extinguish the blaze and have since commenced investigations to determine the cause of the outbreak.
