At least fifteen people are feared dead after a three-vehicle collision on the Kumasi-Accra Highway near Odumase, close to Konongo, in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
The crash involved a passenger bus, a tomato-laden cargo truck, and an empty fuel tanker, according to preliminary reports from the scene.
While the exact cause of the incident is yet to be officially determined, eyewitnesses have attributed the tragedy to a wrongful overtaking manoeuvre that led to a head-on collision between the bus and the truck, with the tanker subsequently caught in the impact.

Emergency response teams, including fire service personnel and medical staff, rushed to the site shortly after the incident to rescue victims trapped in the wreckage.

However, efforts were hampered by mounting vehicular traffic, as the highway became heavily congested in both directions.
