She is due to reappear on April 24, 2026, and has pleaded not guilty to publication of false news with intent to cause fear and alarm.

The case arose after Uber driver Selasie Kwaku Anthonio, 43, reported a viral Snapchat post featuring his photograph and vehicle registration number, which falsely accused him of using signal jammers and carrying offensive weapons.

Following the post, Uber blocked his account, and he received distressing calls from family and customers.

Police investigations led to the arrest of Asamani, who admitted the post was based solely on her sister’s account and that she had no evidence to support the allegations.

The sister, Stephanie Asamani, had initially booked the ride and later narrated her experience to family members.

She told investigators she had a verbal altercation with the driver and exited the vehicle during the trip.
