A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment with hard labour by the Atasemanso Circuit Court for robbery in Kumasi.
Christian Owusu was convicted on his own plea of guilt following an incident on July 21, 2026, in which a woman was robbed of her handbag containing personal effects and cash while heading towards Konkromase Township.
According to a police statement issued on August 14, 2026, the victim reported the incident at approximately 12:21 p.m. on the day of the robbery. Investigations led to Owusu’s arrest on August 4, 2026.
He was arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on August 7, 2026, presided over by His Lordship Mr Kwaku Baah Frimpong.
The accused pleaded guilty to the charge of robbery and was convicted on his own plea.
Before sentencing, Owusu appealed to the court for leniency. The court, after considering his plea, handed down a minimum sentence of ten years’ imprisonment with hard labour.
The convict has since been transferred to the Kumasi Central Prisons to begin serving his sentence.
