Police have arrested a 23-year-old man for the alleged murder and beheading of his 59-year-old father at the family residence in Likpe Abrani. The incident occurred on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
The suspect, identified as Innocent Owusu, is accused of killing his father, Peter Owusu. According to a press release from the Oti Regional Police Headquarters, Owusu fled the scene after the alleged act but was later apprehended.
“The suspect, after committing the act, bolted but based on intelligence, he was arrested at his hideout in the forest of Abrani,” the statement read.
Police confirmed the recovery of the victim’s remains. “The decapitated body and head of the deceased have been recovered by the Police and deposited at Hohoe Government Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy,” the release stated.
Innocent Owusu is currently in police custody and assisting with the ongoing investigation.
The Oti Regional Police Command credited the local community for their aid in the arrest, stating, “The Oti Regional Police Command commends the people of Likpe Abrani for their swift assistance offered to the police to arrest the suspect.”
The command also extended its sympathies, saying, “The Command extends the condolences of the Police Administration to the bereaved family at this moment of grief.”
