47-year-old woman loses thousands of cedis in devastating fire at Aborlorve

Madam Lucy Awadzi, a 47-year-old woman, has lost thousands of Ghana cedis in a devastating fire incident that occurred at Aborlove in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region.

The fire that engulfed her residential apartment, occurred on Friday, October 24, at about 1600 hours.

Madam Awadzi, told the Ghana News Agency, that the fire had destroyed her properties worth thousands of cedis, including clothing, a radio, a bed, and other personal belongings.

“I really don’t know where the fire came from, because l have switched off all the electricity switch in the room. My headache now is that l have lost more than 150,000 cedis cash in the fire,” she said.

Madam Awadzi, who is a church treasurer and also runs a school feeding programme at Aborlove-Nolopi basic school, said she lost all the money she had saved for the feeding as well as that of the church, meant for various purposes, and appealed to the public for help.

The victim and her family were left to deal with the aftermath of the disaster while the cause of the fire was not known with investigations ongoing to determine what sparked the blaze.

“The incident has left me and my family in a difficult situation, my biggest concern is the money that were burnt.  Anyone willing to help can reach out to me. I am pleading to you all for help,” Madam Awadzi said.

She lamented that the fire incident had had a significant impact on her livelihood, as she lost all her savings and properties, and would now have to rely on the kindness of others to get back on her feet.

She appealed to individuals, philanthropists, and benevolence organisation to assist her restructure and restart a new life.
