Looking and staying trendy can be an expensive affair, considering the fast-changing pace of fashion trends and each passing day presents new and yet exciting clothes anyone would want to have and wear.

There’s the insatiable desire to always stay trendy and in style.  However, the process of looking stylish and in vogue need not break your bank.

As long as you know what to select, when and where to find them, you should stay trendy in any and every season.

Here are five easy ways to look stylish on a budget.

1. Look for staples

The first step to building your wardrobe is to have enough basics.  These are essentials that are neutral, uncomplicated and easy to pair clothes.

These must include plain t-shirts with simple necklines in neutral colours (beige, nude, black and white), a pair of well-fitting blue jeans, black pants and simple flat shoes.

Remember to keep your location and weather conditions in mind as you stock up your wardrobe because staples should be items that you can interchangeably mix in to fill out your daily outfits.

2. Sell or Swap with friends

This may seem unconventional but proves to be an excellent source of fun, creativity and style in your wardrobe.  Before you disregard clothes you do not fancy, ask your friends if they may be interested.

In return, your friends may share with you clothes they may have bought in the spur of the moment and have no interest in anymore.

This way, a range of new unloved pieces are made available to you and your friends, and these pieces can help freshen up your wardrobe.

3. Look out for sales

The greatest way to keep a low budget as you look fabulous is to buy from discount and outlet stores. Many wonderful clothes are sold at fantastic prices in these stores.

You are likely to find lovely clothes that define your taste and give you the trendy look you desire at a price you can afford.

Most stores that offer these discount usually need to clear stock to make room for new clothes. and not because these clothes are bad.

This way, you know you definitely did not miss out on a fashion trend.

4. Browse thrift stores

Aside from looking out for sales and clearances, you may consider looking out for thrift stores. These places sometimes have an extensive mix of clothes from people who have lost interest in them.

Perfectly good clothes often end up in these stores and they go for ridiculously low prices for their quality.

Thrift shopping, although more exasperating than shopping in a regular store, can produce lovely pieces to add to your collection.

5. Get creative with combinations

In order to make your clothes look fresh and new each time, you need to keep swapping out small parts of the complete attire. This is exactly why you need staples from point 1.

Building a generous collection of accessories and staples can add a sense of change to your appearance.

Occasionally introducing a new belt, cardigan, blazer, sneaker or your heels can take an outfit from a work-friendly one to a party pleaser.

Each time you wear an attire, think of new ways and new artefacts you can add, to change its look.

Continuously monitoring sales and thrift stores and allowing your friends to breathe new life into your wardrobe will keep you in vogue without going into debt.

You do not need to break your bank to look fashionable. Remember, fashion is style in your sense.

Get creative with your wardrobe building as you live the fashionista life on a budget.
