The Bono Regional Police Command has achieved a major breakthrough, arresting eight notorious armed robbers, including ex-convicts, and dismantling several criminal networks responsible for robberies across the Bono and Ahafo regions.
Following a targeted, month-long intelligence operation, the police made progress in apprehending key suspects identified as Johnson Amponsah Kwame Diawuo and Samuel Kwafo, both ex-convicts.
A separate operation led to the recovery of significant evidence, including a pistol, military camouflage uniforms, and suspected stolen items.
Regional Commander, DCOP Joshua Coppson detailed that the gang, led by Diawuo, was behind a foiled robbery on the Berekum-Drobo Road and several other attacks.
A search of their hideouts uncovered weapons, illicit drugs, stolen electronics, and tools used in their crimes.
While the arrested suspects have been put before court, police efforts continue to apprehend remaining accomplices at large and recover more illicit weapons.
The Police have called on the general public to provide credible information to assist in further arrests.
