EPL wrap: Mourinho claim debut Spurs win; Arsenal draw as Liverpool and City win

Jose Mourinho’s first match as Tottenham Hotspur manager ended in victory as the Portuguese’s side beat West Ham United 3-2 at London Stadium in the first Premier League match played on Saturday.

Spurs were leading three-nil at halftime with goals from Son Heung-Min, Lucas Moura and Harry Kane. However, the Hammers grabbed two goals in the second half courtesy Michail Antonio and Angelo Ogbonna.

Elsewhere at Selhurst Park, Liverpool remained unbeaten as a late goal by Roberto Firmino ensured a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace. The Reds by virtue of the win maintain an eight-point lead at the top of the table.

Leicester remained second with a routine win at Brighton.

At the Emirates, Arsenal fans were left fuming as they needed a late goal by Alexandre Lacazette to snatch a 2-2 draw against struggling Southampton,

Mahrez celebrates scoring for Man City against Chelsea

 

Later on Saturday, Manchester City moved above Chelsea to third. The Citizens defeated the Blues at Etihad Stadium thanks to first-half strikes by Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez.
