Ghanaian highlife musician, Kuami Eugene has refuted claims being made by some Ghanaians that he does not deserve to be nominated in the VGMA Artiste of the Year category.
According to them, Kuami Eugene did not do enough in the year under review, to have his name in the said category.
However, speaking in an interview with Doreen Avio on JOY News, the artiste said;
” I don’t agree with people who say I don’t deserve to be nominated in the Artiste of the Year category. I deserved to be nominated and i would be glad if i win it as well. Last year, i had two of the biggest songs; Obiaato and Ohemaa, and i played loads of shows”
He added that; “With all the works I did, and people still say I don’t deserve to be nominated and even win the Artiste of the Year, I don’t agree. “
The ‘Obiaato’ hitmaker bagged seven nominations for the upcoming VGMAs, namely;

- Best Video Of The Year – Obiaato
- Highlife Artiste Of The Year
- Male Vocalist Of The Year – Obiaato
- Best Collaboration Of The Year – Ohemaa
- Most Popular Song Of The Year – Obiaato
- Artiste Of The Year
