Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Livingstone Satekla better known as Stonebwoy has won the award for the Best African Reggae/Dancehall Entertainer at the just ended 38th International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA).
The ‘Ololo’ hitmaker was nominated in the same category as colleagues Shatta Wale and Epixode.
Other artistes nominated in the category were Nigerian artistes, Patoranking and Grammy-nominated act Burna Boy.
Due to the spread of the novel coronavirus across the world, the award show which was originally scheduled for March 29 was, however, moved up one week.
IRAWMA was prerecorded, made for TV and Radio broadcast in observation of the Jamaican government’s, social distancing strategy of three to six feet.
Ephraim M. Martin, founder of the awards scheme, extended a special appreciation to reggae and music fans worldwide.
He stated that due to the existence of the pandemic, the plaques would be given to the winners at a later time.
