The National Service Scheme has directed all National Service personnel in the country to proceed on a mandatory leave.

This instruction comes in the wake of President Akufo-Addo’s directive that all social gatherings should cease and citizens should remain home if possible.

The President called for such measures to curb the spread of Coronavirus in Ghana.

Following the statement by the President, the Scheme has asked all personnel not to continue work this month and resume in April.

In a statement signed by the Executive Director of the Scheme, Mustapha Ussif, personnel are to be paid during the period.

The statement also added that personnel will work during their annual leave at the end of the service due to this newly-designed break.

This urgently announced leave takes effect on Thursday, March 26, 2020 and ends in the last days of April.
