Despite the fact that he loves money and has never hidden that, dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has debunked rumours that he was paid a hefty amount of money to perform at the COVID-19 Virtual Concert.

It’s been widely rumoured over the last few days that, all musicians who performed at the concert were paid roughly about GH¢40,000 with Shatta Wale pocketing a cool GH¢100,000 for his trouble.

The Minister of Communications, Honourable Ursula Owusu Ekuful, had early one debunked the rumours, emphatically stating that the government was in no position to pay the alleged sums of money to the artistes.

To set the records straight, the ‘Melissa’ hitmaker took to Facebook in a live session, to debunk the allegations and also stress on the fact that, the stories had been cooked up to let him look bad and unpatriotic.

“Why do people lie like that? U see me, people have said me I like money, Yes! I like money bad, but when my country needs me to perform in these difficult times, there is no way I will choose money first,” he noted.

“When they talk about patriotic people I am one of them, I am very patriotic, I like to support my country.”

“My God-father called to say the ministry wants to do something and I am one of the main people to have done a virtual concert and that they would love to involve me and I agreed to do it for free…I did it for free because I know where that thing go fit take me go.”
