Kuami Eugene, an award-winning High-life artist, has noticed with worry trends retarding the advance of music in Ghana as against that of the Nigerian music industry.

Speaking in an interview, Kuami mentioned the fact that, the music industry in Nigerian did not have what we are so familiar with here in Ghana, the “Movements”, “Gangs” and “Nations”. He cites this as the reason why Nigerian music is flourishing everywhere in the world as compared to Ghanaian music.

The ‘obiaato’ hitmaker said, “Fan bases make it difficult to organize shows in Ghana. It’s not like that in Nigeria. There ain’t any Davido Movement nor Wizkid Nation. Shatta Movement, Bhim Nation, Sark Natives and other groups in Ghana music is not necessary.”

Kuami went to add that, “There are too many movements, too many gangs, too many Army in GH entertainment industry and because of that, there is division; music lovers want to only support their favourite artists and not everyone as in the case of Nigeria”

He concluded by saying the demarcations in the various fan bases and camps causes no unity and ultimately retards progress.
