Don’t let Christmas pressure push you into depression – Dr Kwasi Osei

Dr Kwasi Osei, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Mental Health Authority, has admonished members of the general public to avoid getting overly excited and spending way more than they can afford, during the yuletide season.

Dr Osei mentioned, a good number of people feel pressured by the level of expenditure of friends and family and tend to “over-spend”, forgetting that reality beyond the celebration awaits.

He was noted saying, “Remember that you will now come back to reality and then if you had to incur or spend all your money, the reality dawns on you.”

“These festive occasions will come and go. Don’t let them push you into stress and depression. Tell yourself that I will spend within my means. If I have, thank God, I will spend, if I don’t have, that’s okay.”

Staying sane, hale and hearty after the yuletide season and for the rest of your life is far more important, than the few days of the Christmas period.
