Sex for favors especially in the entertainment quarters has been discouraged by many.
The proponents of this thought believe that the act has the tendency of destroying talents and crippling the showbiz industry.
In spite of these reasons, budding female singer Mishasha Essien known by her stage name, Meesha, disagrees with the assertion that sex for favors is wrong.
The songstress feels there is nothing wrong with people using what they have to get what they want.
“I don’t find anything wrong with people using what they have to get what they want, once they are okay with it and feel what is in it is worth going for’, she argued in an interview with Graphic Showbiz.
Meesha wants female artistes to come to terms with the reality because the situation is the same in all fields.
“In the music industry, it is there, just as it is in every sector but I will not be an advocate to kick against it’, she said.
The singer feels it is better for a woman to exchange sex for favors rather than sleeping with a boyfriend who will later break a woman’s heart.
“It is normal, I mean sometimes if you compare the guy you willingly give yourself to who will end up breaking your heart or cheat on you to the other one that has something tangible to give you, you may want to go for the latter and that is fine by me,” she said.
Despite encouraging the act, Meesha says she has never exchanged sex for a favor.
“I will not do but I won’t kick against it either. Fortunately for me, I have the right people around me so I have not faced that yet and I don’t think I will.
The artiste also alleged that some musicians who speak against sex for favors are secretly engaged in the act.
“Look, some of the artistes who speak against these things do them in secret; they have done and are still doing it so why are we being hypocritical about it?” she queried.
Meesha is a member of Red Panther Music and has recorded songs including ‘Hearts Won’t Lie’, ‘Free’ and ‘Colours’.
