Communications Manager and Head of Productions at Charterhouse Ghana Ltd, George Quaye is of the opinion that artistes who claim awards schemes are making money off their sweat are illiterates.
According to him, it is out of place for anyone to think that organizers of awards are making so much money from their events.
George Quaye’s comment follows Stonebwoy’s lamentation on the high amount of monies fans spend to vote for their favorite artistes to win awards.
In George Quaye’s view, such comments about awards schemes like the Ghana Music Awards indicate that some artistes lack knowledge about the business.

‘It is funny. That is why when I heard Stonebwoy complain about the cost of ticketing and all that, I laughed…’
‘An artiste will sit in his house and think that them dey use us make money. It is illiterate’, he said on Joy FM.
The Charter House Communications Manager said artistes should not think that Award schemes use them to promote awards.
Instead, George Quaye believes that awards schemes promote the artistes the more.
‘A lot of artistes think that ‘you are using my image to promote your show’. No. I am not using your image to promote my show, I am using my show to promote you and your brand’, he argued.
He revealed that awards schemes spend so much on acquiring venues, doing publicity and producing shows but get little or nothing from the events.
