Highlife musician, Kofi Nti, has threatened to take legal action against Nigerian-American singer, Rotimi, for allegedly ‘sampling’ his song.
According to Kofi Nti, the Nigeria singer stole lines from his song, Ndwom, featuring Ofori Amponsah.
Speaking in an interview on Time FM with Akwesi Ampofo, in Obuasi, the highlife artiste said his lawyers were putting things together to take legal action against the US-based singer.
Rotimi’s song, Mega Love, featuring Afro B on his 2019 EP (The Beautiful Beginning) has some lyrics from Kofi Nti’s song, Odo Nwom, released in 2004.
The lyrics, “O Waee”, sang by Ofori Amponsah, has allegedly been reproduced in Rotimi’s song with a similar melody.
Rotimi was recently involved in a copyright scuffle of his own with Ghanaian singer, Mr. Drew, which led to his “Eat” video being taken off YouTube.
