President Nana Akufo-Addo has begun a fourteen-day self-isolation after “at least one person within his close circle tested positive for Covid-19” on Saturday.
In a statement, Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said the President tested negative for COVID-19 but has decided to self isolate “out of the abundance of caution.”
Akufo-Addo acted on the advice of his doctors, and in compliance with the country’s coronavirus protocols.
“On the advise of doctors, the President of the Republic of Ghana, is from today, July 4, 2020, taking a 14-day precautionary self-isolation measure in compliance with Covid-19 protocols,” the statement said.
The statement added: “The President during this precautionary self-isolation period, will be working from the Presidential Villa at the Jubilee House.”

The statement did not name the member of the president’s inner circle who has tested positive.
This comes just a day after the President toured some registration centres in the Greater Accra Region.
