Reigning Ghana DJ Awards ‘Best Highlife DJ’, Oyokodehye Kofi has declared the month of August as Highlife month.
The two-time winner of the prestigious award has called on all his fellow DJs to join him champion the agenda to make Highlife dominate the music scene in Ghana and beyond.
He noted that the genre is the authentic music of Ghanaian origin and it has formed the basis of other genres today.
Oyokodehye Kofi revealed that August is also his birth month and requested DJs all across the country to play mostly Highlife music as their gift to him.
“From 1st August to 31st August…I am using my birth month to promote Highlife music in Ghana. So I am urging my fellow DJs and presenters who will celebrate my birthday to play Highlife music…Let’s promote Highlife music predominantly for one month and let’s see the impact”, he said on his show, Highlife Time on Accra FM.
Oyokodehye Kofi, born Eric Owusu Gyimah, will celebrate his birthday on August 12.
In November 2019, he was adjudged ‘Best Highlife DJ’ for the second time in a row.
Oyokodehye Kofi is also the host of Highlife Time on CTV.
