Top Ghanaian comedian, Derrick Kobina Bonney, popularly known as DKB, says he is quitting comedy.

The humorist announced his retirement from the industry via a Twitter post.

DKB blamed his early retirement on bad press he has received as well as negative and discouraging comments from the public.

The comedian wonders why people insult him just because he is doing his work.

He stated that he has done his best for the industry and it is important he leaves to safeguard his mental health.

“I’m RETIRING from comedy. I’m tired. Enough of negativity & disrespect, I didn’t kill anyone, I just make people laugh, so why the insults in return?

“My mental health is important to me. So-called fans also don’t show love publicly. I’ve lifted Ghana comedy, done my part,” he wrote on Twitter.

DKB recently had a social media banter with actress Efia ODO with the latter claiming the former is a hater.
