Ghanaian actor Van Vicker has added his voice to appeal by Nigerians demanding the scrapping of Special Anti Robbery Unit of Police popularly known as SARS.
The protest movement initially targeted the federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (Sars), widely accused of unlawful arrests, torture and murder.
The protesters say they want the unit disbanded rather than reformed.
Previous commitments to change the behaviour of the police have not had an effect, critics say.
Van Vicker is currently in Ghana and could not join the protest but took to his social media handles to support the protest.
“Hello everybody, my name is Van Vicker, I am an actor, a filmmaker and I stand with my Nigerian brothers and Sisters. #Endsars#VanVicker”, he wrote.
