A ‘trotro’ driver, Liman Akwara, who disembarked his passengers just to meet his favorite music star, Shatta Wale, offered free ride to commuters on Monday.
Liman Akwara on Friday, October 30, shocked his passengers when he parked suddenly to go after Shatta Wale.
The passengers from Lapaz to Accra had their journey cut short in front of Joy FM when the driver of the vehicle redirected his vehicle to kokomlemle because he heard Shatta wale was visiting Hitz FM.
He instructed his mate to refund the lorry fare to the passengers so they can disembark.
According to broadcast journalist George Addo Jnr, who witnessed the incident, the driver told the passengers to get off his vehicle because he was not interested in driving them to their destinations anymore.
The trotro driver tried to enter the media giant’s offices to see his superstar but was prevented by security.
George Addo Jnr. later rushed to the Hitz FM studio while Shatta Wale was being interviewed on DaybreakHitz to narrate the incident.
Host of the show, Andy Dosty, and Shatta Wale asked that the driver be allowed to join them in the studio.
Liman Akwara who plies the Accra-Newtown route, said he offered the ride as a way of appreciating Shatta Wale’s gesture.
“Shatta Wale showed love by allowing me to see so I’m also offering free rides to all passengers who will journey in my vehicle from Accra to Newtown and back, from the hours of 6 am to 6 pm,” Mr Akwara explained in a video on Twitter.
