National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag-bearer John Dramani Mahama says he is not angry with musicians Sarkodie and Samini for endorsing his opponent, Akufo-Addo.
On November 2, Sarkodie released ‘Happy Day’ and Samini released ‘Kpoyaka’ as endorsement songs for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Akufo-Addo.
In spite of these major campaign songs, John Mahama says it will not hamper his relations with the entertainment personalities.
Describing the actions of the musicians as personal decisions he stated that his attitude towards their craft and what they produce will remain unchanged.
“I don’t have any antipathy or anger with anybody who endorses Nana Addo. That’s their decision”, he said on Starr FM.
John Mahama stressed that his admiration for the works of the two entertainers will not change.
“I like them, they’re young talented musicians and my attitude towards them doesn’t change. Samini has been somebody that I like…and so if he’s endorsed Nana Addo it doesn’t change my attitude towards him.”
The NDC flag-bearer however stressed that he has refrained from using celebrities for campaigns because the public misconstrue their endorsements and their careers suffer.
“Musicians will make music for you and all that but it doesn’t really amount to an endorsement, we don’t understand some of these things. In Ghana when a musician when a musician makes music for you or a political party then he comes against a lot of antipathy from the supporters of the other party, that shouldn’t be the case,” he explained.
