Kumawood actor Bill Asamoah believes that poor marketing and distribution led to the collapse of Kumawood.
The once vibrant industry in Kumasi was known as Kumawood.
According to Bill, the blame for the apparent collapse of the Kumawood movie industry should be laid squarely at the feet of movie producers and marketers who were not proactive enough.
He stated that they failed to change with the times when the world was moving from analogue to digital.
He said, among other things, that when the world went digital, Kumawood couldn’t keep up, and marketers and producers who used to invest in the industry looked elsewhere.
The actor mentioned that advent of mobile phones, internet, online streaming, free to air channels and digiboxes as factors that further worsened the situation.
However, according to actor Paul Gee, poor storylines and lack of original stories by movie producers and directors caused the collapse of the industry.
In an interview on Pure FM, Paul Gee revealed that the industry players caused the slow growth of the industry.
He believes Ghanaians are fed up with poor storylines and the boring acting by Kumawood actors.
