Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale achieved a significant milestone by performing for the first time in Jamaica at Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street Concert.
The event, held at the National Stadium in Kingston, marked Vybz Kartel’s return to the stage following his release from prison six months prior. The concert featured prominent artists such as Popcaan, Spice, and Busta Rhymes, celebrating the global influence of dancehall music.
Shatta Wale, the sole international guest artist from Africa, delivered performances of his hits “On God” and “Already,” the latter a collaboration with Beyoncé.
Expressing his gratitude, Shatta Wale stated, “I want to say thank you; this is my first time performing in Jamaica, and I have always wished to perform with you on stage. Thank you so much, and God bless you.” The Freedom Street Concert was a historic occasion for Vybz Kartel, who spent 13 years incarcerated and is now revitalizing his illustrious career.
