Madam Sandra Seyram Kpedor, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Anloga in the Volta Region, has rolled out supportive initiated free SHS placement check point desk for all Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates in the area.
The move is to ensure every eligible graduate transitions to Senior High School smoothly.
Madam Kpedor, said that Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially released the 2025 Senior High School (SHS) placement results for students who sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in Ghana including those in the Anloga District; and the initiative was to help graduates and their families as they prepare for the next stage of their academic journey.
“Specifically, l have set up a special desk just behind my office to assist students and parents to check SHS placements for free of charge,” Madam Kpedor said.
She also explained that the primary aim of the free placement check service was to assist young ones and their parents to adequately prepare for the upcoming academic year with reporting scheduled for Saturday, 18th October 2025, and timely access to placement information was crucial for necessary arrangements.
She urged parents to assist the students residing within the Anloga District to take advantage of the complementary service offered as a valuable resource to facilitate smooth transitions.
“Like l said before, this is basically my own initiative, and it is part of the broader efforts to enhance education access and outcomes in the district, it aligns with my aspiration of seeing every eligible child who complete basic education to get enrollment in Senior High School,” she said.
Madam Kpedor stated that the free placement check initiative would be expanded to all the 28 electoral areas in Anloga District in the subsequent years to help alleviate the challenges the graduate endured during the period.
She added that all students from Anloga district who attended other basic schools outside the district were also eligible to use the opportunity to check their placement for free.
She said the announcement underscored a collective call to action, adding that, “Let’s work together to secure the future of our children, but note that the exercise is only for checking placement but not to help change school’s placement for any child.”
Some graduates and parents the Ghana News Agency contacted expressed excitement and relief about the exercise and thanked the DCE for the kind gesture which was considered a pivotal moment for all BECE graduates.
They said the free offer has removed potential financial barriers that might hinder some families from accessing placement information, ensuring inclusivity which would determine the immediate academic pathway and a steppingstone for graduates to further their education and career opportunities.
GNA also observed that with the reporting date slated for Saturday, 18th October 2025, over 900 BECE graduates and thier parents were urged to utilize the free checking service promptly to facilitate preparations such as uniform purchases, accommodation arrangements, among others if needed.
The move was also viewed as a positive one which demonstrated the local government commitment to easing the transition for BECE graduates into SHS, ultimately contributing to educational advancement in the area.
