Ms Kelis Zulay Moreno Mosquera, Chargé d’Affaires of the Colombian Embassy in Ghana, has paid a courtesy call on the tourism minister to discuss ongoing cultural collaborations and explore opportunities to enhance Ghana-Colombia bilateral enhancement.

The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming Festival of Traditional Music, a cultural event organised annually by the Colombian Embassy, in partnership with the Ministry.

Ms Mosquera said the initiative, first launched in 2023, dubbed:  the Pan-African Cultural Festival, has since grown into a vibrant platform celebrating the cultural heritage of both Africa and Colombia.

“Rebranded as the Festival of Traditional Music, this year’s edition seeks to deepen cultural exchange by spotlighting indigenous music and rhythms that reflect the shared heritage of the African diaspora.”

Ms Mosquera extended a formal invitation to the Ministry to participate in an upcoming International Book Festival in Colombia, scheduled for April 2026.

“The global literary event will bring together authors, publishers, and key cultural stakeholders, with the Colombian Embassy pledging to facilitate Ghana’s participation.”

Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, welcomed the initiatives, reiterating the Ministry’s commitment to promoting cultural diplomacy through heritage, the arts, and creative exchange.

She emphasised the importance of intercultural dialogue in fostering mutual understanding and closer ties between the two countries.

Accompanying the Colombian diplomat was Ms Sefakor Afi Mensa Dartey, a senior official with the Embassy, who joined discussions on strengthening bilateral collaboration.

Also present at the meeting were Mr Joseph Kwesi Amoah, Chief Director of the Ministry, and Mr Divine Owusu-Ansah, Director for Culture and Creative Arts.

Both officials expressed the Ministry’s readiness to support upcoming joint initiatives and ensure Ghana’s active engagement in international cultural platforms.

The meeting underscored the critical role of culture in diplomacy and highlighted the growing momentum behind Ghana-Colombia cultural relations, built on shared values and a commitment to sustainable cultural development.
