Anloga: Senior High School advised against immoral life

Senior High School students in and around Volta Region have been advised to refrain from engaging in immoral activities.   

The advice was against negative lifestyles such as drug abuse, premature sexual activities, stealing, running away doing school hours, among others to safeguard their future development for success.   

Torgbiga Besah Kumassah, the Chairman of Anlo Dukor Tutudo, gave the advice during a handing over ceremony of 200 mono-desk to the Anlo Senior High School by Anseco 1980 Old Students Association (ASSOSA Diaspora).  

Torgbigah Kumassah urged the students to avoid activities that were deemed unacceptable and contrary to the school’s values which may jeopardise their life in future.  

“It is good for you young today to focus on your education and make yourself and your parents proud. It is time for you to see the importance of education and make positive choices and stay focused on your academic pursuits,” he said.  

He explained that second-circle institutions were where young students could identify their future potential and must receive proper academic nurturing to shape students for excellence and moral integrity.   

He said that the advice was to serve as a reminder to all students of the importance of adhering to the values and rules of various schools and communities which could enable maintain a positive reputation and create opportunities for younger generations in their academic and professional career.  

“The incident of indiscipline in secondary schools is getting out of hand these days, which clearly reminds us of the challenges that students face in their academic journey.   

Togbiga Kumassah further stated that schools must initiate proactive disciplinary measures to address the various forms of indiscipline issue and provide a supportive learning environment while guiding students towards positive behaviours and attitudes would equip them with the skills and values necessary for success in life.  

He further appealed to parents and guardians to monitor their wards and work collaboratively with the school authorities to ensure teamwork between parents, teachers, and students in controlling and promoting academic success and personal development necessary to support and guidance.  

Mr. Dominic Dando, the Ghana Education Service (GES) Director at Anloga, who also witnessed the ceremony urged students not to borrow expensive lifestyle they may not endure in future.   

He said it was essential for the public to guide and shape students to reflect on their choices and consider the potential consequences of their actions and make informed decisions and stay focused on their goals to get back on track and achieve academic success.  

He said that the incident of indiscipline acts in schools has highlighted the need for mentorship and guidance programmes for students, particularly during the stage of adolescence and young adulthood to provide them with the necessary support and resources to enable them to navigate the challenges of academic life and beyond.  

With the right mindset and support, the student could learn from their mistakes and experiences and make positive changes to achieve their goals.  

He promised that indiscipline behaviours in any schools within his jurisdiction would be address without fear or favour to demonstrate the commitment to the well-being and success of all students to foster a positive school culture and promote academic excellence.
