A 68-year-old British man was shot on Friday night at a spot opposite the Tema Community Nine cemetery.
A release from the Command signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dede Dzakpasu, the Head of Public Affairs, stated that the police were on a manhunt to arrest suspects who shot and killed the man during a robbery attack at the Spot on Friday, November 07, 2025.
The police in preliminary investigations indicated that the victim, in the company of some others, was seated at the spot when six young men arrived on two motorbikes.
It added that two of the assailants approached the group, and one of them snatched the victim’s mobile phone from the table.
It said, “When the victim attempted to retrieve his phone, one of the suspects shot, and the gang fled the scene on their motorbikes.”
It added that the victim was rushed to the Tema General Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The statement noted that a 9mm spent shell was retrieved from the scene and had been processed for evidential purposes, while witnesses who were present during the incident had been interviewed to assist with the ongoing investigation.
The statement said the Tema Regional Police Command had launched a full-scale operation to track down the perpetrators.
“Efforts are ongoing to contact the British Embassy to officially notify them of the death of their national,” it said.
The Command has assured the public that every effort was being made to arrest the suspects and bring them to justice.
