Mr Richard Kumadoe, Security and Fraud Prevention Expert, has commended the Ghana Police Service for meeting key performances, which reflects the operational progress, institutional reforms, and strategic leadership direction of the service.
In an analytical review dubbed: “The IGP & CID Block Balance Score Card,” Mr Kumadoe identified eight critical areas where the Police Service has demonstrated notable performance or initiated essential improvements meant to strengthen public confidence and enhance national security outcomes.
According to him, a consolidated investigative report on electoral violence from both the 2020 and 2024 general elections remained a crucial benchmark, adding that comprehensive documentation of such incidents was vital for accountability and for preventing future electoral disturbances.
He also cited the handling of the Akwatia by-election as an example of improved operational efficiency, noting that post-election-related matters were managed with speed and clarity, contributing to stability in the area.
Touching on environmental security, he said progress made in investigations into illegal mining activities in forest reserves and water bodies was significant, with corresponding dockets reportedly submitted to the Attorney-General for further action.
He highlighted reforms within the service, including the promotion of officers across various ranks and the recall of personnel who were previously discharged under unclear or hastened circumstances, noting that it contributed to morale-building and internal fairness.
Mr Kumadoe also pointed to renewed engagement between the Police administration and senior service officers, including former inspectors-general of Police, describing such interactions as valuable for institutional memory and leadership development.
On maintaining public order, he commended the swift investigative responses to individuals who exhibited offensive conduct or engaged in acts likely to disturb public peace, saying, such actions deter impunity and reinforce respect for the law.
He added that the establishment of specialised operational and technical units, including teams supporting national events with DNA analysis and forensic examinations, reflected the service’s modernisation drive and focus on evidence-based policing.
Mr Kumadoe told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that these combined efforts have contributed to stability, greater public confidence, and more robust intelligence-led decision-making within the Police Service.
He described the current Police leadership as having, “demonstrated security leadership at all times without fail,” adding that measurable progress in these areas should guide further reforms and serve as a reference point for continuous performance assessment.
