In October 2013, Akon revealed that Sarkodie was never signed by his label, Konvict Muzik, though he admired the rapper.

In an interview on Joy FM, he stated that discussions with Sarkodie never came to a fruitful conclusion.

“Never closed (deal), it never started… we were working on it I was trying my best to make it happen but unfortunately it never materialized”,he said.

However, Akon, during a press conference in Ghana on Sunday, December 29, contradicted his earlier statement.

The ‘Ghetto’ hit maker now claims that he signed the Ghanaian rapper unto his record label.

According to the International R&B artiste, his record label, Konvict Muzik gave a platform to African musicians including Sarkodie and Wizkid.

Interestingly, Sarkodie in a story published on GhanaWeb on December 10, 2011, stated that, “I am not signed. Akon endorsed Sarkodie”.

These contradictory statements from Akon has left many fans confused on whether Sarkodie was indeed signed.

Some people mocked Sarkodie and called him a liar after Akon disclosed that he never signed the Ghanaian rapper.

It is unclear if Akon wants to put an end to the trolls by saying that he signed Sarkodie.
