Jospong Group donates GHS200,000 to mosque project

The Jospong Group has donated GHS200,000 towards the completion of the Zoomlion Central Mosque at Ashalley Botwe–Nmai Dzorn in the Greater Accra Region.

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency said the donation, announced by Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group, would cover outstanding construction costs, provide instruments for operations and fund the installation of a generator to support the facility’s smooth functioning.

“Imam, this facility has been a long-time project. We’re proud to announce our contribution to its completion, including covering the remaining costs and providing instruments to support its operations,” the statement quoted Dr Agyepong as saying.

He emphasised national unity and interfaith coexistence, describing the Zoomlion work environment as an example of that principle.

“At Zoomlion, we don’t have Muslims, we don’t have Christians. What we have is Ghanaians. And we work as Ghanaians. We work as one people, one mind, and one culture,” he said.

Dr Agyepong commended the Chief Imam’s leadership for promoting peace and tolerance, noting that it had fostered a culture of respect within the organisation.

The statement also quoted Dr Agyepong as expressing appreciation to Muslim staff of the Jospong Group, particularly during the month of Zulhijah.

“Your dedication, hard work and commitment have been instrumental in driving our success. Your integrity, teamwork and willingness to go the extra mile have not gone unnoticed,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the National Chief Imam, Dr Mohammed Abubakar Marzuk Azindoo praised Dr Agyepong for supporting social cohesion and reconciliation.

“He reminds us that Ghana is at a stage where interfaith harmony is being threatened. Let us not allow these threats to succeed,” Dr Azindoo said.

The Imam of the Zoomlion Central Mosque, Imam Adams Abdullahi, thanked Dr Agyepong for the donation and described him as “a man of integrity, who respects humanity regardless of religious faith.”

He said the support aligned with previous assistance, including food and cash donations during Ramadan and support for Muslim staff undertaking the Hajj pilgrimage.

The statement said prayers were offered for Dr Agyepong during the Jumu’ah prayer, and the donation was expected to accelerate the completion of the mosque to serve the growing community.
