The Kintampo District Police Command has arrested 13 suspected criminals and drug peddlers under a special operation in the Municipality.
The targeted swoop led to the seizure of substances suspected to be narcotics.
A statement signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Appiah Dankwa, Acting Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Bono East Region of the Police Administration, said the operation commenced on Thursday, December 18, 2025, within the farming communities of Babator and Kawampe in the Kintampo Municipality.

It indicated that the team encountered groups of young men and women openly smoking and selling dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, adding that upon noticing the police presence, the individuals attempted to flee, but were pursued and apprehended.
Those arrested included Issahaka Amadu, 25, Afia Sumaila, 32, Yaw Johnson, 20, Dankwa David, 30, all traders, and Abdul-Hakim Sumaila, 16, an unemployed.

The others were Kofi Vandam, 24, and Yambon Cornelius, 25, both farmers, Jagri Seth, 22, a motor mechanic, Mubarick Manteiso, 36, a labourer, Issahaku Abdul-Basit, 39, a driver, and Hamza Wedrago 24, a scrap dealer.
The statement mentioned some of the items confiscated to be 65 wraps of suspected cannabis, 49 pieces of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, compressed dried leaves concealed in polythene bags, 19 blisters of Tramadol tablets, and five blisters of a substance marked “red”.
There were also various cigarette packets- five Oris, three Royals, one Rothmans, four keypad mobile phones, one radio set, four pairs of scissors, four lighters and a cash totaling GHS 682.80.
The Kintampo District Police command affirmed its commitment to use the confiscated items and substances for evidential purposes, stressing that the suspects were currently detained for further investigation, the statement said.
The police urged the public to continue to support their efforts by providing credible information to help curb crime and enhance public safety in the area.
