Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Minister for the Interior, has officially opened the Bono Regional Command office of the National Signals Bureau (NSB) in Sunyani.
The new facility, located in Sunyani, houses a surveillance and intelligence operations centre, a service centre, and other key security departments.
The NSB is designed to boost surveillance, intelligence gathering, analysis, and early warning capabilities, shifting the focus from reactive to preventive security measures.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Alhaji Mohammed-Mubarak noted that the Sunyani office is the third in a series of Strategic National Signals Bureau Regional Command openings.
He emphasised that the milestone reflected the government’s strong commitment, under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, to building a comprehensive and responsive security architecture that meets the country’s evolving needs.
He highlighted the importance of decentralising intelligence infrastructure, stating, “We are making advanced intelligence a local asset, not just a distant resource based in Accra, but the command brings security service closer to everybody at all places.”
Alhaji Mohammed-Mubarak assured residents that the region is now under extensive surveillance coverage, announcing, “Your markets are covered, the prison is secured, all schools and major roads are monitored, and nearly every government installation in the region is now under watch.”
Addressing concerns about privacy, the Minister reassured the public that the NSB’s presence was not to spy on citizens but to protect them.
“We need to know what’s happening on our streets, we need to detect and prevent evil plans before they unfold, and I assure you, we will stop them,” he declared.
He issued a stern warning to criminals, “If you are involved in crime, it is time to change your ways, if not, know that we are coming for you and we will catch you.”
Mr Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister, called on traditional leaders, religious figures, civil society groups, and the public to continue supporting security agencies by remaining law-abiding, vigilant and cooperative in intelligence-led efforts.
Also speaking at the event, Osagyefo Oseadeayo Nana Agyemang Badu II, the Dormaahene, encouraged the public to take advantage of the Interior Ministry’s directive to register all unlicensed firearms, to ensure that every weapon in the system is properly licensed.
