The Pillars of Volta Foundation, a Non-Governmental organisation (NGO) based in Aflao, in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region, has made a generous donation to Effective Life Academy, a private basic school with an orphanage home in Logotome, near Kopeyia.
The donation, include essential items such as bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, pastries, soft drinks, sachet water, toiletries, spaghetti, biscuits, among others.
Mr Emmanuel Korba, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pillars of Volta Foundation, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, stated that the donation aimed to bring joy to the less privileged and show them love during the Christmas season.
“Our donation is a celebration of God’s love and a contribution to the welfare of the children, this should not be seen as just a donation but a celebration of the Lord’s amazing mercies and favour in our lives,” he said.
Mr Quashie Amuzu, the Chairman of the Foundation, also urged other organisations, individuals and group of entities to support the less privileged in various communities to make impact which would enable less privileged feel cared for and valued.
He said the donation was part of the foundation’s corporate responsibilities to make efforts and show love and kindness to those in need, especially during the festive season.
Mr Francis Mawunyo Ladzekpo, the Headteacher of the school who received the items on behalf of staff and students expressed gratitude and thanked the foundation for their generous and kind gesture that would improve the progress of the school.
“We hope that Pillars of Volta Foundation will continue to extend their helping hand to these children and others in need to alleviate the numerous challenges many of our students faced,” he said.
He mentioned that the Effective Life Academy had about 200 pupils and over 30 orphans, and added that the foundation’s initiative has brought smiles to the faces of the children at Effective Life Academy.
Some staff and students who interacted with the Ghana News Agency, appreciated the move which demonstrated the power of community support and kindness.
They said that the support from organisations such as Pillars of Volta Foundation, would make a big difference in the lives of many and urged other benevolent organisations to emulate same to improve and uplift the standard of the education in the school.
