Quality Insurance PLC has marked the 70th birthday of broadcasting legend Tommy Annan-Forson with the launch of a nationwide camapign aimed at transforming how senior citizens access essential services.
The “No Waiting, No Queuing” campaign, announced during a celebratory event at Debate House in Adjiringanor, Accra, seeks to impress on Ghanaians to give priority to senior citizens aged 70 and above in the delivery of medical, financial services and other essential services, eliminating long waits and queues.
“As we gather to celebrate the birthday of our beloved icon, Tommy Annan-Forson, we are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing the lives of our senior citizens,” said QIC Managing Director Kobena Addison. “They have dedicated their lives to building our communities, and it is our duty to honour and support them.”

Mr. Addison outlined the objectives of the campaing to include “eliminating waiting times so elderly citizens can access vital services promptly and efficiently.” The campaign, he said, also aims at “ensuring quick access to medical care to improve health outcomes through timely treatment and support as well as creating an environment where seniors feel valued and respected, free from the stress of long queues.”
He called on the public to embrace the campaign, saying, “As we launch this initiative, let us come together to honour our seniors and ensure they receive the care and attention they deserve. Together, we can make a difference.”
Tommy Annan-Forson, the brand icon for QIC’s Golden Age Motor Insurance Policy, endorsed the campaign, urging Ghanaians to support efforts that restore traditional values of respect and reverence for senior citizens.
Mr. Annan Forson’s 70th birthday celebration brought together some of Ghana’s most prominent media and entertainment figures, including Kwasi Twum, CEO of the Multimedia Group; Kwame Sefa Kayi of Peace FM; former Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mark Okraku Mantey; comedian Kwaku Sintim-Misa; and actor Fred Amugi.
Tributes were paid to Mr. Annan-Forson for his leadership, mentorship, and contribution to broadcasting in Ghana.
Kwasi Twum lauded his role as a pioneer presenter in the establishment of Joy FM.
“The Joy FM story wouldn’t have been what it is without Tommy,” Mr. Twum said.
Former Joy FM presenter Klenam Anatsui drew laughter when he joked: “That two-week suspension is what has made me the man I am today.”
Mr. Annan-Forson, visibly moved, thanked QIC for the celebration. “In all my 70 years, this is the best birthday party I’ve ever had,” he said.

Born in 1955, Mr. Annan-Forson is celebrated as one of Ghana’s most influential broadcasters, earning nicknames such as “The Godfather of Radio” and “The King of Country Music.”
Starting his career in 1977 at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation as a programme assistant, he rose to become a key figure in radio broadcasting in Ghana.
In 1995, he joined the Multimedia Group as Programmes Manager and became the first host of Joy FM’s Super Morning Show. He later managed Sunshine Radio, which became Choice FM, and founded the Rabodef Radio Academy to train aspiring broadcasters.
His contributions to the media industry have earned him numerous accolades, including the Grand Medal of Honour.
