Anufor/Chokosi community to establish educational fund to support needy children

The Anufor/Chokosi community in the Ashanti Region will this year establish an educational fund to support brilliant but needy and underprivileged children in their communities across Ghana.

The initiative aims at providing opportunities for these children to pursue their educational aspirations and ultimately contribute positively to society.

Nana Issah V, Head of the Anufor/Chokosi community in the Ashanti region, who announced this at an end of year meeting of the leadership of the community, also said a consensus have been reached by the leadership to find a permanent palace where members of the group could meet and undertake social activities, such as marriage ceremonies and other activities involving members of the group.

The palace, when established, would serve as a central point, where traditional council meetings could be conducted, fostering a sense of unity and organisation among community members.

Nana Issah also said the leadership had agreed to establish a network of support for all Anufor/Chokosi businessmen and women to bolster their activities, particularly focusing on the education funds, which remained the core of the 2026 action plan.

The initiative would not only enhance the educational prospects of children but also strengthen the economic foundation of the community as a whole.

He stressed the need for all Anufor/Chokosi communities to come together and actively participate in the development efforts aimed at uplifting their people.

Unity and collaboration, he said, were essential in ensuring that these plans were successfully implemented and that the benefits were felt across the entire community.

Nana Issah noted that for the year ending 2025, the community had experienced significant improvements in terms of mobilising their people and gaining recognition of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

This recognition, he said, was testament to their hard work and dedication to fostering community spirit and development.

In addition, the hosting of the annual Damba festival for the Chokosi/Anufor community in the Ashanti region was also highlighted as a vital component of the action plans adopted during the meeting for 2026.

The festival, he noted, would serve as a cultural celebration and an opportunity to unite the community, showcasing their rich heritage and traditions.

Mr Awud Iddrisu, a prominent Anufor/Chokosi transport businessman, on behalf of his fellow businessmen and women, promised to dedicate their efforts to supporting the community’s initiatives in 2026.

He said their commitment would reflect on the collective spirit of the business community and the desire to contribute positively to the welfare of their people.‎
