Let’s be the voice, light for social and economic justice – DAF  

Dr Erieka Bennett, the Founder and Head of Mission of the Diaspora African Forum (DAF), Embassy for the African Diaspora, has called on the global community, especially women, to continue working towards achieving social and economic justice.  

She said their collective strength, intellect and resources in support of Africa’s sustainable development and global advancement were crucial for building a just and progressive world.  

Dr Bennett said this at the DAF – W. E. B. Dubois Award for Leadership and Social Justice, organised by the Embassy for the African Diaspora, in collaboration with the Diaspora Affairs Office of the President in Accra.

The ceremony was the first of its kind, where three distinguished women of the diaspora were honoured for their contributions towards achieving social justice. 

They were Mrs Kiahna W. Davis, leader of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; Miss Tracey Clark Jeffries, Founder and CEO of Capital Consulting Services, and Madam Nicole Colbert-Botchway, an Associate Circuit Court Judge. 

“This Awards ceremony is especially significant as we gather to honour exceptional leaders whose service and vision exemplify the highest ideals of justice, transformative leadership and global impact,” Dr Bennet said. 

She said the occasion reflected their shared commitment to recognising leadership that uplifted communities, strengthened the Global African Diaspora and advanced purposeful engagement across continents. 

“We remain unwavering in our mandate as a diplomatic mission dedicated exclusively to the African Diaspora,” she said.

“We are grateful… as we celebrate excellence, reaffirm our collective responsibility and continue the work of building enduring bridges between Africa and her global family.”  

Mrs Kiahna W. Davis, a diasporan, is a dynamic and visionary leader of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® and was honoured with the Visionary Leadership Award.  

She had been serving as the Regional Director, Central Region and as the Central Regional Representative to the International Standards Investigation Committee.  

Miss Tracey Clark Jeffries, Founder and CEO of Capital Consulting Services, a nationally recognized, women and minority owned consulting firm, was honoured with the Social Impact and Entrepreneurship Award.  

Madam Nicole Colbert-Botchway, an Associate Circuit Judge, 22nd Judicial Circuit Court (Division 16) of Missouri, USA, serving the City of St. Louis, was honoured with the Judicial and Civic Leadership Award.  

Mrs Davis, in acknowledgement, said they were satisfied with the work of the Embassy for the Diaspora and the progress Ghana had made, adding that their commitment was unwavering and their careers and resources would be a blessing to Ghana and Africa.  

“We shall not squander what God has given us but make sure we make a change, regardless who’s at the seat of power in government, because we know when Black people stand up and in unity, we shake the foundations of this world,” she said.
