DTI launches Alumni Ambassador Program

By News1

The Design and Technology Institute (DTI) has inaugurated its Alumni Ambassador Programme, empowering its graduates to become leading advocates for technical education and the institute’s values across Ghana.

The launch event in Accra brought together alumni from various sectors for a workshop focused on enhancing DTI’s visibility, forging industry partnerships, and amplifying the message that technical and vocational education and training (TVET) is a vital pathway to dignified work.

In his opening address, DTI Principal Emmanuel Kojo Ampomah highlighted the alumni’s role as the true measure of the institute’s success.

“The proof of our impact is in you, the alumni,” he stated, urging graduates to mentor others and “pass it forward.”

The workshop tackled the growing global demand for skilled technicians.

Karl Adu Dankwah, President of the DTI Alumni Association, pointed to persistent skills shortages and called on alumni to help “restore dignity to blue-collar work” by sharing their success stories.

Facilitator Dr. Olubunmi Ajayi of Madison Pine UK outlined the vision for DTI ambassadors as lifelong representatives whose professional conduct and excellence naturally reflect the institute’s brand.

She emphasised that ambassadorship goes beyond marketing.

“Ambassadors carry DTI with them everywhere they go,” Dr. Ajayi said.

“The most impactful people do not need to announce themselves; your work speaks.”

The programme underscores a strategic move to position DTI’s alumni network as a key driver of the institute’s growth and its ambition to be a Pan-African Centre of Excellence in TVET.

It is supported by the Mastercard Foundation under its Young Africa Works strategy.

The initiative comes in response to rapid shifts in Ghana’s labour market, where strong alumni networks are increasingly critical for connecting training with industry needs and creating opportunities for young people.
