IGP restructures senior police command positions

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno has implemented an immediate and extensive reshuffle of senior command positions within the Ghana Police Service.

The move is a strategic effort to reinforce leadership and boost operational effectiveness across the Service.

A statement issued by the Police Administration detailed the reassignment of multiple Commissioners of Police (COPs) and Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOPs) to new roles.

Key changes in directorates include COP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba moving from Director-General, Technology to Director-General, NAPD, COP Iddi Lansah Seidu is reassigned from Director-General, Welfare to Director-General, Technology and COP Dr. Vance Baba Gariba shifts from Director-General, Operations to Director-General, Research and Planning.

Additionally, COP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe takes over as Director-General, Operations, moving from the Professional Standards Bureau (PSB). DCOP Darko Offei Lomotey is reassigned from Director-General, Research and Planning to Director-General, PSB, and DCOP Eric Ken Winful is reassigned from Director-General, NAPD, to Director-General, Welfare.

For regional and technical command appointments, DCOP Charles K. Adu becomes the new Regional Commander for the Eastern Region, DCOP George B. Ohene Boadi assumes duty as Regional Commander for the Central Region and DCOP George Ankomah moves from Central MTTD/AR to Regional Commander for the Eastern North Region.

DCOP Alex Kodjo Wowolo, formerly Director of ICT at National Headquarters, takes over Central MTTD/AR and DCOP Isaac Asante has been transferred from the Eastern Region to the National Headquarters.

The IGP stated that these postings are part of continuous reforms designed to strengthen command structures, enhance operational efficiency, and improve service delivery throughout the Ghana Police Service.
