Ghana International Bank (GHIB) and Euromoney Learning have successfully launched a five-day intensive Trade Finance Training Course in Accra, marking a significant step toward enhancing financial market expertise across Ghana and the wider region.
Held on 3rd February 2026, the programme brought together banking professionals, financial practitioners and trade finance specialists for a practitioner-led learning experience focused on real-world application.
The course was designed to address today’s complex trade environment, covering the full trade finance lifecycle from transaction origination and risk mitigation to execution.
Participants engaged with critical topics including the global trade landscape, Incoterms, trade documentation, risk analysis and the structuring of self-liquidating trade facilities.
Through expert-led instruction, practical case studies and scenario-based discussions, the training enabled attendees to translate theory into actionable strategies for their institutions.
Huggert Annan, Head of Client Coverage Africa and Ghana Country Representative at GHIB, officially opened the event, reiterating the Bank’s long-term commitment to skills development in Africa.
“At GHIB, we are in Africa for the long run. Our purpose is woven into the continent’s growth story—not only during favourable market conditions, but especially in challenging times. Our derisking strategy has been capacity-building and upskilling, when other banks have left the continent.
