The Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the Oti Region have signed their 2026 performance contract, pledging accountability and quality service delivery.
The signing event at the Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC) reflected MDCEs’ commitment to improve governance, transparency and service delivery.
Mr Seth Adomako Sarkodie, the Oti Regional Human Resource Director, advised the MDCEs to hold regular stakeholders’ meetings, log and track complaints, update their websites and resource IT offices for online checks.
Mr Sarkodie again advised the Oti MDCEs to develop strategic plans and coordinate activities to achieve their 2026 performance contract goals.
He encouraged them to explore flexible logistics arrangements and innovative solutions to support officers, enhance reporting, and ensure the successful implementation of their performance contract.
Mr John Kwadwo Gyapong, the Oti Regional Minister, said the performance framework covers all departments within the local government system, including human resource management, accounting and finance.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after the event, he described the exercise as successful and commended the MDCEs for their cooperation. He expressed confidence that the contacts would guide their work and improve service delivery at the local level.
“The performance contracts would serve as both a checklist and a self-assessment tool, enabling MDCEs to monitor their own performance even before external evaluations are conducted,” Mr Gyapong added.
The Minister stated that the system would provide an objective and credible basis for assessing performance, reducing the influence of sentiment in decision-making, including possible reshuffles.
He reaffirmed the region’s commitment to supporting the president’s resetting agenda and ensuring effective implementation of government policies across all MDCEs in the Oti Region.
He, however, revealed that the initiative is expected to strengthen the relationship between government and citizens, while reinforcing the confidence placed in local authorities by the president and the people of Ghana.
