Wa East MP demonstrates commitment to supporting healthcare delivery

Dr Godfred Seidu Jasaw, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Wa East Constituency, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving healthcare delivery through the renovation, upgrading and provision of equipment to health facilities in two communities.

The interventions included the renovation and upgrading of the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Kpaglahi to a Health Centre, as well as the renovation and provision of equipment to the Gudaayiri Health Centre.

“You are like teachers; you are innovating and managing to give us healthcare services, and that sacrifice is something I am proud of. I hope we will continue to work together to provide quality healthcare to our people,” the MP said.

Speaking at a brief ceremony at Kpaglahi to commission the renovated facility, Dr Jasaw said the projects had become necessary due to the poor and dilapidated state of the previous structures.

He noted that access to quality healthcare was central to development, as healthy citizens were more productive and better positioned to improve their livelihoods.

Dr Jasaw explained that the Kpaglahi facility was upgraded to a Health Centre to reduce referrals to other health facilities, which often came with financial and transportation challenges.

He said the renovation of the Gudaayiri Health Centre and the provision of equipment, including delivery beds, patients’ beds, weighing scales and blood pressure apparatus, would create a more conducive environment for quality healthcare delivery.

The MP added that the facilities served several communities and therefore required additional health personnel, modern medical equipment and further expansion to meet increasing demand.

Jinpenhi Naa, Naa Kadri Ibrahim, thanked the government and the MP for renovating and upgrading the Kpaglahi Health Centre, saying the intervention would boost healthcare delivery in the area.

He, however, appealed to the MP and the District Assembly to improve the poor state of roads linking the community to other parts of the district, noting that the situation affected access to emergency healthcare and other essential services, including markets for farm produce.

Dr Benjamin Aminyuure, the Wa East District Director of Health Services, expressed gratitude to the MP, stating that the facelift to the facilities would significantly enhance healthcare delivery.

He also thanked the MP for his plans to upgrade the Bullenga facility to a polyclinic and to complete the Agenda 111 hospital project at Funsi.

Mr Adamu Sayibu, the Wa East District Chief Executive (DCE), encouraged residents of the two communities to maintain the facilities to ensure their sustainability.
