Parliament launches 2026 2030 strategic plan

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, officially launched the legislature’s Corporate Strategic Plan for the 2026 to 2030 fiscal period on Thursday, February 12.

The newly unveiled document is designed to serve as a roadmap for the House, aiming to strengthen its oversight responsibilities, improve service delivery, and bolster transparency and accountability.

Speaking at the launch, Speaker Bagbin emphasized that the plan is instrumental in building a more responsive institution capable of meeting the needs of Ghanaians.

“This document will help build a more responsive and practical institution that serves the needs of citizens,” he stated.

The event was attended by key parliamentary figures and dignitaries, including the Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga; the Deputy Minority Leader, Patricia Appiagyei; and the First Deputy Speaker, Bernard Ahiafor.

Also present were the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror; Executive Director of Transparency International Ghana, Mrs. Mary Addah; and Hooman Nouruzi, Head of the Political, Security and Governance Team at the FCDO.

Mr. Bernard Ahiafor, who serves as the Chairperson of the Corporate Strategic Plan Steering Committee, provided a detailed chapter-by-chapter breakdown of the plan’s content.

He noted that the strategy aligns the aspirations of Parliament with the broader national development agenda.

Mr. Ahiafor extended commendations to the Technical Committee for their professionalism and expressed gratitude to Speaker Bagbin for his leadership.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the Parliamentary Service Board, Members of Parliament, Management, Staff, and development partners for their support in formulating the strategy.

Echoing these sentiments, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga disclosed that the plan was the product of extensive consultations.

He noted that it is designed not only to enhance the work of Members of Parliament but also to improve the services provided by Parliamentary Staff.

“I assure the commitment of the leadership to fully implement the strategic plan,” he said.
