Chalk Talk Foundation Africa launches 4th Prodigy Examination

Chalk Talk Foundation Africa, a non-governmental organisation, has launched the fourth edition of its “Prodigy Examination” for junior high school pupils.

The competitive academic initiative aims to improve education standards and prepare candidates for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

This year’s edition is on the theme: “The Wonder Child,” and seeks to assess and develop the six core competencies of the Ghana Education Service’s (GES) standard-based curriculum.

Madam Mercy Tetteh, an organiser, said the initiative had grown into an important academic platform, preparing learners for the BECE over the past three years, with about 350 pupils participating since its inception.

Mr Richard Kwabena Nsarkoh, Founder of the Foundation, said it was established in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and registered in 2024 to address educational gaps in Tema Newtown. He noted that despite challenges, the Foundation had promoted academic excellence and healthy competition.

He recalled that Manhean Basic School 1 won the first two editions, while Bright Atakpah won third. The reigning champion, Master Bright Atakpah, who received GH₵1,000 and educational materials, encouraged contestants to work hard and remain determined.

The three-stage quiz competition will culminate in the awarding of the “Trophy of Glory.” The launch was attended by GES officials, traditional leaders, school owners, and members of the Tema Youth Association.
