Nigerian artiste Dammy Krane says he wants to organise ‘Naija Meets Ghana’ – a Nigeria version of ‘Ghana Meets Naija’ – with the aim of popularising Ghana music in his country.

The annual organised by Empire Entertainment seeks to pit local artiste against their Nigerian counterparts on a musical stage.

Due to its consistency, Nigeria music has easily penetrated into Ghana with a majority of radio stations and club DJs playing few local songs.

“I’m planning a “Naija meets Ghana” event in Nigeria,” Krane Tweeted on Tuesday. “Let’s bring Ghana artistes to Nigeria, the same way there is “Ghana meets Naija”. Somebody tell Bola ray to update! ?????? #OneLove”

Krane on Monday criticised how Nigerian songs are being played more than Ghana music in Ghana.

He believes the growing trend of Nigeria music being played more than Ghana music in Ghana is unacceptable and must stop, beginning this year.

In his view, it must be balanced and that only Nigerian songs that feature a Ghanaian should play on rotation.

“Naija music is being played more than Ghana music in Ghana. This must stop in 2020, the only Naija songs that should have such rotations are songs that features a Ghanaian. Every must balance well in 2020,” Krane wrote on Twitter.

Even though Krane is aware his statement would spark public outrage he is not perturbed by the criticism.
