Adaklu District Assembly to build ultra-modern market

The Adaklu District Assembly has completed feasibility studies for the construction of an ultra-modern market in Adaklu Waya, the district capital.

The proposed market will border the existing Animal Market in the town.

Mr Mark Dodzi Hoenyekor, Presiding Member of the Assembly, disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of the commissioning of a 31-member Blue Water Guards at Adaklu Waya.

The Blue Water Guards initiative, launched by President John Dramani Mahama, addresses pollution and environmental degradation of the country’s water bodies caused by illegal mining and other abuses.

Mr Hoenyekor noted that the market would support the government’s 24-hour economy initiative.

He added that with ongoing improvements to roads linking Adaklu Waya to other communities, coupled with the 24-hour economy market, Adaklu Waya is expected to become a “booming community.”

The Presiding Member also highlighted that, given the high patronage of the Animal Market, the new market is expected to thrive and boost revenue generation for the Assembly.

He emphasized that the market would create numerous direct and indirect jobs for farmers, traders, transport operators, drivers, and social service providers once operational.

Currently, traders in the district rely on markets in Ho, Mafi Kumase, Akatsi, and Ziope, as there is no functional market within Adaklu.
