The management of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has interdicted two doctors and two nurses over their alleged refusal to treat a 29-year-old engineer who later died at the facility.

Charles Amissah died on February 6 from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run accident.

According to reports, he was turned away by three hospitals, including Korle Bu, due to a lack of beds, despite desperate pleas from ambulance staff.

While still in the ambulance bay at Korle Bu, Amissah went into cardiac arrest and could not be revived.

In a statement on Monday, hospital management said a committee has been set up to investigate; however, the four staff members are suspected of failing in their duty to provide emergency care.

The hospital has pledged transparency and promised to release further details after the inquiry.
