According to a police statement issued on Friday, February 27, 2026, the suspect, a well-known social media personality, was taken into custody after officers conducting routine cyber patrols identified explicit videos involving him circulating on social media platforms.

“The recordings, which date from 2023 through January 26, 2026, featured multiple females. The suspect was promptly invited for questioning and admitted to posting the videos on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.”

During interrogation, Hayford reportedly told investigators that he posted the videos in response to a social media trend. He indicated the content was shared as part of a TikTok challenge known as “Auntie Shakira.”

“The suspect further admitted to recording another explicit video in 2023, which he claimed to have sold to an American woman identified as Naya for $600, equivalent to approximately GH¢6,500 at the time,” the statement added.

Authorities also invited one of the women appearing in the videos, identified as Portia Ampofo, to the station for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.

Following preliminary inquiries, the suspect was transferred to the Special Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department for further processing.

Based on the facts gathered during interviews, Hayford was subsequently released on police enquiry bail while investigations continue.

The Ghana Police Service used the opportunity to caution the public against sharing explicit or offensive materials online, emphasizing that such actions contravene Ghanaian law.

“The police take this opportunity to warn the general public against posting obscene and related materials online, as doing so violates the laws of the land,” the statement read.

“The police will rigorously enforce these laws to ensure the Internet remains safe for all Ghanaians.”
